英語的resting-place 雖然有“休息處”的意思，但更經(jīng)常的是用來指“墳?zāi)埂?，即“最后安息之處”。因此，把公共場所的“休息處”譯為resting-place 很不合適。
也有人將它譯為rest-room，但那更不妥當(dāng)，因為英語中的rest-room 是“廁所”的委婉說法，而“休息室”明顯不是這個意思。
Lounge的英文解釋是這樣的：A public waiting room, as in a hotel or an air terminal, oftenhaving smoking or lavatory facilities.一間公共的等候室，比如在賓館里或飛機終點，經(jīng)常有吸煙或衛(wèi)生設(shè)備。
lobby雖然也有休息室的意思，但是它卻特指政府，它的英文解釋為：A publicroom next to the assembly chamber of a legislative body.立法機構(gòu)集會大廳邊上的公共活動室。
