The twelfth of never 是一個了了無期的日子。1957 年 Johnny Mathis 有一首流行歌曲就叫 The Twelfth of Never，其中有以下歌詞：
"You ask how long I'll love you? I'll tell you true:
Until the twelfth of never,
I'll still be loving you."
一般的理解，the twelfth of never 是日期的表示方法，例如 the first of May（也是另一首流行曲的歌名）是五月一日，the eighth of March 就是三八婦女節(jié)。按照這個解讀，the twelfth 是指某一個月的第十二天，而該月就是 never，是一個不存在現(xiàn)實的月法，因此the twelfth of never 指的一個并不會來臨的日期。Johnny Mathis 的歌詞大意是說直到永遠永遠，我還是會愛著你。
但為什么是第十二天而不是其他日子呢？我查了很久也找不出答案，希望知道的讀者來信告訴我。
